Lamine Yamal was one of Spain’s protagonists as they secured a narrow 1-0 win over Denmark.

Although it was not the best of performances from the Barcelona forward, the same can be said for other Spain attackers, who were a part of that game.

Overall, Yamal was involved in ninety minutes of action, where he created one big chance while attempting four shots on goal. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to find the back of the net.

Barcelona’s request to Spain

Heading into the Denmark game, Barcelona were already keeping an eye on Lamine Yamal’s fitness, knowing the attacker has already played a lot of football this season.

Now, after a narrow win over Denmark, in which Yamal was able to complete the ninety minutes, Barcelona have made a special request to the Spanish national team, reports Diario SPORT.

It appears the Catalans want Spain to release Yamal from the national team fold for this international break and allow him to return to Barcelona.

The club do not want him to participate in the next game against Serbia, a team known for their aggression.

This is to ensure the forward does not pick up any injury during the break and returns to Barcelona safely.

The club, after all, cannot afford to see Yamal get injured at this crucial juncture of the campaign, especially if they are to compete with the top dogs of Europe.

Along with Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, Yamal has been one of the most important attackers for Barcelona, notably racking up five goals and five assists in all competitions.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Spain allow Yamal to be released – a decision which, no doubt, be closely monitored by rival clubs including Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.
