Barcelona sporting director Deco says the club are not considering selling Ronald Araujo amid links with Manchester United.

Earlier this month, the player himself said he had seen the speculating regarding a transfer to United last summer but did not think much of it.

Now Deco has told the press that Barcelona are not considering the sale of Araujo because he is still part of the club’s plans for the future.

Speaking to reporters after Barcelona’s 4-2 win over Real Madrid at the weekend, Deco said (via 90min): “He is one of Barça’s key players of the present and future,” Deco stressed. “We are not considering selling him, we want him to be happy and this is shown on a day-to-day basis.

“There is nothing to talk about. The important thing is that he is here with hunger and heart.”

The last thing I want to see United involved in this summer is a transfer saga over one of Barcelona’s players.

I have scars from the Frenkie de Jong episode.

However, the Uruguay international has impressed since his 2019 move to the Nou Camp.

United have enquired about Araujo’s availability and were told he will cost £69 million this month, as per German reporter Florian Plettenberg.

🔴🆕 News Ronald #Araujo: ManUtd have inquired about the 24 y/o! #MUFC informed about transfer fee and contract details …

It is also understood that Araujo is on Bayern Munich’s radar for a summer transfer. That deal could see Dutch international Matthjis de Ligt leave the Bundesliga and remerge as a United target.

Reports also suggest Araujo is keen to stay at Barcelona.
