According to journalist Roger Torello’s report in Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick is not entirely convinced by Mikayil Faye’s performances and has approved negotiations for his transfer.

In recent developments, there were rumours that Turkish club Besiktas had expressed interest in signing Faye

However, sources close to the player have denied these claims, insisting that the French club Rennes is the most serious contender for Faye’s signature as the summer transfer window nears its end.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Rennes has shown interest in Faye. The French side, along with Lens, was keen on signing the 20-year-old defender during the winter transfer window last year.

Despite their efforts, Barcelona were not ready to let him go at that time. However, the situation has changed this summer, with Barcelona now open to selling Faye if they receive an offer of around €10 million.

A promising talent with no place in Barcelona

Faye has already made a name for himself on the international stage, representing Senegal at the senior level despite being only 20 years old.

Although he established himself as a key player for Barcelona’s reserve team, there is no place in the senior team for him.

Interestingly, his performances have caught the attention of several clubs, including Portuguese giants Porto, but Barcelona were cautious about selling him too quickly.

Flick is not convinced

Faye’s progress was so promising that Barcelona considered using him as a left-back option during their pre-season tour of the United States.

However, after seeing him in action, Flick seems to have doubts about his suitability for the first team. As a result, the club is now exploring the possibility of selling the player, with Flick giving his approval for negotiations to take place.

It is said that Faye has accepted that leaving Barcelona might be the best decision for his career. With a contract that runs until 2027, the young defender could be on the move this summer, provided Barcelona receives an offer that meets their €10 million valuation.
