It has been almost five years since Pedri joined Barcelona and the youngster has never had to look back since, having established himself as one of the best midfielders in La Liga.
Despite his unrivalled success at Barça, though, Pedri still harbours a deep connection with his former club Las Palmas.
That is why last night was a special one for Pedri as he got the chance to return to Gran Canaria for the first time since leaving the club back in 2020.
Pedri on his Gran Canaria returno
A day after the game, Pedri explained on social media why last night’s game was an important one for him personally.
“One of the most exciting and special days of my career has come to an end. I was really looking forward to playing in Gran Canaria again, and at the same time to get another win to stay on top,” he wrote across his social media channels.

The Barcelona midfielder went on to thank the Las Palmas fans for warmly welcoming him back at Gran Canaria.
The Spaniard also offered his thoughts on Barcelona’s season ahead and how he is now fully focused on the upcoming game against Atletico Madrid, which will serve as the first leg of the Copa Del Rey semis.
“Thank you Las Palmas fans. From a distance, I will cheer them on more than anyone else in their fight for survival. As for us, it’s time to focus on a Copa del Rey semifinal that promises a lot,” he wrote.
Pedri is indeed expected to play a crucial role as Barcelona take on Atletico Madrid at Montjuic on Tuesday.
A strong performance in the first leg could go a long way in helping the Catalans earn a valuable lead, which in turn, could see put a foot in the finals.
