Coming into the summer, many expected Pablo Torre to be shown the exit doors at FC Barcelona following a middling loan spell at Girona last season.

Indeed, reports claimed that the 21-year-old midfield prospect had no place in new manager Hansi Flick’s plans.

However, Torre has managed to flip the script and become one of the positives of the pre-season campaign for Barcelona, scoring two goals in two games against UE Olot and Manchester City.

Torre ‘satisfied’ with Flick giving opportunities

Now, AS reports that Pablo Torre is very satisfied with how Hansi Flick has handled his situation so far.

The 21-year-old former Racing Santander prospect is happy with the confidence that the Barcelona manager has shown in him as well as the fact that he has been used in his preferred role as a No. 10.

Everyone assumed that Torre would have to go out on loan again or be sold permanently. But the shortage of first-team midfielders in the early days of training has given him the chance to have minutes in the friendlies and he has grabbed the chance with both hands.

Torre, now the top-scorer for Barcelona in pre-season, has made things difficult for Flick, who has to decide whether to keep him in the squad or offload him.

Torre hopeful of staying

Speaking after his goalscoring display against Manchester City earlier this week, Torre touched upon how he was enjoying playing under the new management and claimed that he hopes to stay at Barcelona.

“Hopefully, that will be the case. In the end, you have to work day by day and enjoy it too. I feel very comfortable in the midfield, in the ‘10’, with a bit of freedom,” he said.

“He [Flick] is being very close to everyone. He still hasn’t told me anything about my future in the team,” the Spaniard added.
