Sometimes it is easy to forget that Barcelona midfield maestro Pedri Gonzalez is still 21 years old considering the things that he does on the football pitch.

The midfielder, who will turn 22 on 25 November, made his first-team debut for the Catalans at 17 in September 2020.

A little over four years later, he has already established himself as one of the most experienced players in the Blaugrana squad and serves as one of the team captains.

However, he still remains a young player who has just won the La Liga Under-23 Player of the Month award for October.

Pedri received the award earlier today at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and granted a brief interview to the club’s media channels, where he discussed the award.

“I am happy, but primarily because of the team’s start to the season, and we must continue,” the Canary Islands native remarked while holding the trophy.

He added, “I shall keep it in the display cabinet with all my other achievements, and I hope more will come.”

Talking about how he is already seen as a veteran despite his young age, the Barcelona captain confessed:

“I feel a bit younger with this award, yes, because people already see me as a veteran, but I am still young.”

Pedri becomes the second Barcelona player to win the La Liga Under-23 Player of the Month award this season, following Lamine Yamal’s recognition in August.

Alberto Moleiro, from Pedri’s former club Las Palmas, claimed the award for September.

Meanwhile, with Robert Lewandowski winning the Player of the Month award for October and Hansi Flick being named the Coach of the Month, Barcelona have achieved a hat-trick of honours.
