Joshua Kimmich is one of many players Barcelona are closely monitoring this summer in their bid to reinforce their ranks in midfield.

It appears Barça are waiting out for the perfect market opportunity, knowing new Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany might be in favour of offloading the German international in the coming summer.

Bayern’s conditions to sell Kimmich

Keeping that in mind, a recent report from Sky Sports Germany has offered a key update on the future of Joshua Kimmich.

The report has pointed out certain conditions Bayern Munich must meet if they are to offload the German international this summer.

Bayern Munich’s number one quest is to sign Kompany’s top target Joao Palhinha. The Bavarians will only consider the sale of Kimmich if the Portuguese international joins the club.

In addition to Palhinha’s acquisition, Bayern Munich are also waiting for a reasonable offer for Kimmich.

The German’s current contract at Allianz Arena expires in 2025. Even then, the Bundesliga giants have a high valuation for the midfielder, who brings in a wealth of experience and versatility that make him an ideal target for Barcelona.

Can Barça afford Kimmich?

Due to Kimmich’s contract situation, Barcelona can still manage a lower valuation for the German international this summer.

However, a bigger obstacle for the Catalans will be to accommodate Kimmich under their tight wage structure.

Unless Barcelona manage to offload someone like Frenkie de Jong, it is hard to foresee the Catalans being able to bring in Kimmich.

Kimmich is not the only option for Barcelona, though. The Blaugrana have most recently been linked to another German star in the form of Angelo Stiller, who is rated highly by new coach Hansi Flick.
