As Barcelona look to facilitate the transfer of top target Nico Williams, the club are desperately seeking a big-money sale.

The club’s sporting director Deco has already decided to stay back in Barcelona in order to negotiate the exit of some of the unwanted stars in the team.

While much of the focus has been around Ferran Torres and Raphinha, when it comes to exits, Ilkay Gundogan, too, has been linked with a potential move away from Camp Nou.

Gundogan not thinking about exit

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered a comprehensive update on the future of some of the Barcelona stars, including Gundogan.

The report indicates that the German international is not thinking about a departure from Catalonia this summer.

This comes even on the back of reports that Barcelona may require the veteran’s exit in order to take some weight off their salary bill. Moreover, the club have reportedly received an offer from Qatar.

Gundogan, though, is not considering a move away from Barcelona – a familiar problem the club have had to deal with in the past.

Indeed, many of the unwanted Barcelona players in the past have refrained from leaving the club even when the team needed an exit.

Gundogan has Flick’s approval

Only this time, however, Gundogan has the approval of Hansi Flick himself. The German tactician wants the midfielder to continue.

Gundogan, after all, offers vast experience to the table while his tactical knowledge makes him an invaluable player to Barcelona.

Even in the current state, the former Man City’s presence could prove to be critical in leading an otherwise inexperienced Barcelona midfield setup.

Therefore, Gundogan is more than likely to continue at Barça as they look to kickstart a new era under the leadership of Hansi Flick.
