In the eighth minute of Barcelona’s recent game against Deportivo Alaves, Gavi and Tomas Conechny were involved in a brutal collision which saw both players fall flat on the pitch.

Concerns were raised regarding Conechny, in particular, as he picked up a serious-looking knock on his head. He was stretchered off around the 14th minute and was immediately taken to the hospital.

Gavi, too, was subbed off at the same time, with Fermin Lopez replacing him in the final third. This led to fears in the Barcelona camp as well.

Gavi in good shape after being scans

However, a recent report from Diario AS has clarified that Barcelona midfielder Gavi is in good health.

Just like Conechny, Gavi was also taken to the hospital. He was accompanied by Dr Richard Pruna at the hospital, where they conducted a CT scan to rule out any aftereffects of the head collision.

As per the report, the tests subsequently ruled out any hematoma, thus allowing the player to return home.

Will Gavi play the next match?

The report adds that Gavi will be available for action when Barcelona take on Valencia in the quarter-final of the Copa Del Rey on Thursday.

This could serve as a major blow for coach Hansi Flick, especially at a time when the young midfielder was slowly regaining his form and fitness after recovering from a long injury layoff.

However, it will be interesting to see whether or Flick opts to hand Gavi a rest this midweek, knowing that Fermin Lopez, too, is in good form and is more than capable of replacing the Spaniard.
