It is a good time for Hansi Flick to look forward to in Catalonia as players are slowly returning from injury in midfield, adding to the squad depth for a key set of fixtures ahead.

Yesterday, Barcelona announced that Fermin Lopez had been given the medical all-clear to return to group training, all but confirming that the La Masia starlet will make it to the squad facing Sevilla.

As of Tuesday’s training session, however, Dani Olmo is still training separately from the group and SPORT provide an update on his situation.

Awaiting the green light

As revealed by the Spanish outlet, Olmo is very close to returning to the squad and has all but recovered from the Biceps femoris injury he suffered last month.

The squad get a rest on Wednesday and there is hope that he will return to the group dynamics by Thursday which will be the first training session after the return of the internationals.

Given Olmo’s long history with injuries, the management and medical staff wish to be extra cautious over his situation and may thus delay giving the green light until he is at 100%.

The idea continues to be that Olmo will face Sevilla to some capacity so that he can be a match-fit for the games against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid next week. There is optimism but measured with caution.

So far this season, Olmo has made three appearances for Barcelona started two games and has scored three goals in that duration, one in each outing. Further, he created two big chances and averaged 1.3 key passes per game.

His return will potentiate the team’s dynamics in the final third and help Hansi Flick’s side to return to the front four that wreaked the maximum havoc against Real Valladolid.
