Earlier today, Barcelona announced the renewal of Fermin Lopez’s contract until 2029 after the player signed the new deal officially. His new release clause stands at a whopping €500 million.

Lopez just extended with the club until 2027 last year and Barcelona’s immediate offer for a further two years only goes to show the confidence they have in the player for the long term.

After all, Lopez has proven to be a valuable presence in midfield especially in terms of his directness towards goal and is very efficient with his off-the-ball performance.

Lopez speaks on his renewal

Speaking to the club media today, the young midfielder shared his thoughts on securing his future in Catalonia and what it meant to him to be at the club of his dreams.

“For me, it is a dream come true, the dream since I arrived in La Masia. I’m very happy for myself and my family, for being in the first team and in the club I dreamt of as a child.”

Speaking on the struggles he has faced to get where he is today, the youngster said,

“I have fought a lot to get here and you have to enjoy it. I have lived it very naturally, it is true that I have had to have a lot of patience, it has been a little longer and more difficult path.”

“But this year I have achieved great things, unforgettable, and I hope to continue to achieve more,” he added.

Finally, the player opened up on what he hoped the future held for him in Barcelona.
