While Vitor Roque’s future at Barcelona is increasingly uncertain, his agent, Andre Cury, has put an end to speculation linking the Brazilian forward with a move to Portuguese club Sporting CP.

Despite recent rumours, Cury has made it clear that no discussions have taken place between Barcelona and Sporting regarding Roque’s potential transfer. This effectively rules out Sporting as a possible destination for the young talent.

Roque has been one of the names most likely to leave Barcelona before the summer transfer window closes.

The Brazilian striker, who arrived at the club in January from Athletico Paranaense for a fee of €30 million, has not been registered in La Liga and does not appear to be in the plans of Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick.

Flick has opted to place his trust in another emerging talent, Pau Victor, leaving Roque on the fringes of the squad.

Given this situation, Barcelona have authorised Roque’s agent to explore options with other clubs. The Catalan club are hoping to recoup at least the €30 million they invested in the forward earlier this year.

Interest from English clubs has already surfaced, with Everton and Bournemouth among those monitoring Roque’s situation.

However, despite the buzz, Sporting are not in the running, as confirmed by Cury in a recent interview. “There are no talks between the clubs,” said Cury as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Recent reports from Portugal have clarified that Sporting’s primary target for bolstering their attacking line is not Roque but rather Fotis Ioannidis, the Greek striker currently playing for Panathinaikos.

Amidst the transfer speculation, it is worth noting that Roque has fully recovered from the illness that kept him out of the Trofeu Joan Gamper match. He has resumed training with his Barcelona teammates.

However, despite his return, Roque’s immediate future with the first team remains doubtful. Since he is not registered in La Liga, he is not expected to be part of the squad for Barcelona’s league opener against Valencia.
