As has widely been reported, Barcelona intend to enter the market for a new goalkeeper in the summer of 2025 as they intend to lay down a succession plan in place for Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Diogo Costa of FC Porto appears to be the preferred option for Barcelona director Deco, but the club might not be in a position to afford the 25-year-old’s signing.

As such, other, more affordable alternatives are also being looked at by the Catalan giants, with two such players emerging from Ligue 1.

Marcin Bulka and Lucas Chevalier on Barcelona’s agenda

Indeed, according to SPORT, Barcelona have their eyes on OGC Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka and Lucas Chevalier of LOSC Lille as alternatives for Diogo Costa to reinforce the goalkeeping position.

Bulka, 25, has established himself as one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in Ligue 1 since making the switch from Nice to PSG in 2021.

However, the Poland star’s contract with the Ligue 1 outfit expires in 2026, meaning he will be entering the final year of his deal next summer and signs point towards him leaving.

Meanwhile, Chevalier is carving out a reputation for himself with Lille as a promising young goalkeeper at the age of 22.

The youngster has a contract with Les Dogues until 2027 though and as such would be more expensive than Bulka, with reports suggesting that Barcelona might have to pay at least €40 million for the French ace.

Apart from these names, Bart Verbruggen of Brighton & Hove Albion is also being looked at by Barcelona as a possible alternative. Much will depend on the club’s financial situation come summer.
