Barcelona hit Real Madrid for five goals last night on their way to win the Spanish Super Cup, with Raphinha being the star of the show.
The Brazilian winger ended the game with two goals and an assist, walking away with the Man of the Match award for his dazzling display as he tore apart the Real Madrid defence.
However, amidst the euphoria of the Super Cup triumph, there was a slight concern about Raphinha’s fitness condition.
After all, the in-form Barça captain asked to be taken off around the 79th minute after going down on his back before limping awkwardly off the pitch.
Raphinha is fine
But in a positive update, Mundo Deportivo reports that Raphinha is completely fine and will be fit and available to face Real Betis in the Copa del Rey clash later this week.
The former Leeds United attacker asked for a substitution as he was suffering from cramps due to prolonged efforts in the Super Cup final and was unable to continue.
However, there is no serious issue with him and he is expected to be at Hansi Flick’s disposal for Wednesday’s cup match against Real Betis, unless the manager decides to rest him like he did against Barbastro.
Leading from the front
From being linked with an exit, Raphinha has come a long way and established himself as one of Barcelona’s main players this season.
The 28-year-old has already plundered 19 goals and 11 assists from 27 matches in all competitions, with his partnership with Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal proving to be lethal.
Not only in terms of numbers in front of the goal, but Raphinha also stands as an example to the rest of the squad with his work rate off the ball, his mentality and his leadership.
