In a major update, Marta Ramon of RAC1 reports that Barcelona new signing Wojciech Szczesny is now 100% fit and ready to play ahead of Sunday’s La Liga clash against Sevilla.

Szczesny, 34, was signed by the Blaugrana as an emergency acquisition after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s season-ending knee injury.

The former Juventus and Arsenal star had retired but made a U-turn after being approached by the Blaugrana, agreeing to sign a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Szczesny ready for his debut

Given that he had hung up his boots, Szczesny was lacking sharpness and match fitness when he signed for Barcelona.

However, the 34-year-old former Poland international has been working very hard in training to get back to the required levels over the past couple of weeks.

Now, it is being suggested that the goalkeeper is ready and at 100% level and would be in a position to make his debut for Barcelona against Sevilla on Sunday night.

As such, the final call on his involvement will be made by manager Hansi Flick, who will have to decide between Szczesny and Inaki Pena.

Since Ter Stegen’s injury, Pena has stepped into the goal but has not entirely managed to convince.

Reports earlier this month suggested that Flick would make the switch and choose Szczesny as his first-choice in goal as soon as he was fully fit. With that being the case now, there may be a chance that the Pole gets his debut on Sunday.
