Barcelona new youth signing suffers injury setback – report

According to a recent report from SPORT, Ibrahim Diarra, a young and promising Malian forward, is yet to showcase his potential at Barcelona due to an injury. 

It must be noted that the young player arrived in Barcelona with knee discomfort, which has prevented him from training with Barça Atletic since his arrival in November. 

However, despite this setback, there is significant anticipation surrounding his talent and what he can bring to the team.

A future signing

Diarra, who will turn 18 on 12 December, is known for his physical strength, explosive style of play, and goal-scoring ability. His 18th birthday will also mark an important milestone, as he becomes eligible to sign his first professional contract in Europe. 

Barcelona have already shown faith in his potential, having made a considerable financial investment to secure his services. The club reportedly paid €190,000 to CPF Africa Foot and an additional €1.5 million, amounting to a total investment of €1.7 million.

Currently, Diarra is undergoing individual training sessions to recover from his injury. The club expects him to regain full fitness soon, aligning with the resolution of the necessary bureaucratic processes for him to debut. 

A lot is going on behind the scenes

These include securing a work permit, a step other international players like David Oduro and Azziz Issah have had to navigate in the past. Diarra may also need to temporarily return to his home country to expedite this process.

Another hurdle involves the federation card system, as Barça Atletic’s roster is currently at its 25-player limit. For Diarra to officially join, adjustments will be required, such as releasing an existing player to make room for him.

Barcelona’s investment in Diarra highlights their confidence in his abilities and future contributions. 

While the start of his journey with the club has been delayed due to injury and administrative formalities, the hope remains that he will soon be able to demonstrate his potential and become an asset for Barça Atletic.
