Hansi Flick was regarded as one of Barcelona’s hottest options in their bid to replace Xavi Hernandez this summer.
Now, following the loss to Paris Saint-Germain, Barça have once again started looking at potential coaching options, knowing Xavi will not reverse his decision to leave the club.
With roughly a month left before the season comes to an end, time is running out for Barcelona as they look to find a replacement for Xavi.
Hansi Flick is no longer an option
In such a situation, it is normal to expect Barcelona to revisit their interest in Hansi Flick, who is currently a free agent.
However, as per Mundo Deportivo, Flick is no longer an option for Barcelona, primarily due to his lack of exposure to both Barcelona and Spain.

This may hinder Barcelona’s progress, knowing the coach will require some time to settle into the new conditions. Not to mention, Flick might struggle with the Spanish language as well.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have ruled out other coaching options such as Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique and Jurgen Klopp, perhaps because none of these coaches are available this summer.
Rafa Marquez leading the chase?
With Barcelona seemingly running out of options, it appears Rafa Benitez has emerged as the hottest candidate to replace Xavi Hernandez.
The Mexican has received a lot of support from Joan Laporta, who likes the fact he has exposure to Barcelona’s culture and has enjoyed immense success managing the youth teams.
It must be noted that previous coaches such as Guardiola and Enrique had coached the youth teams before managing the senior side. And as things stand, Marquez could follow in their footsteps this coming summer.
