With the summer transfer window four months away, plans are underway at Barcelona to make changes to the squad. A new manager is at the top of director Deco’s to-do list in the summer, but beyond that he also needs to find ways to improve the squad.

For that to happen, Barça need to make some sales in the summer so that they achieve their target of operating on the 1:1 rule.

As has been reported earlier, just one big sale might not be enough for the Catalans to achieve that objective.

Superstar could be sold

As such, TV3 is reporting that Barcelona are no longer closing the doors on the possibility of selling some of their most important players in the summer.

At this point, only four players – Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, and Lamine Yamal – are seen as untouchable by Barça and will not be transferred in the summer irrespective of the offer that arrives.

However, the same cannot be said of some of the other key players. Indeed, the report states that Barcelona will no longer rule out the thought of selling key midfielders Frenkie de Jong and Ilkay Gundogan, along with Marc-Andre ter Stegen or Robert Lewandowski.

All players are key figures in the team, but have high salaries, something that Barça need to cut down in the summer.

The report explicitly mentions De Jong as a player who could be sold, with the Dutch midfielder no longer regarded as an untouchable by the club.

As for Ter Stegen, he signed a new long-term contract with the club not long ago and has made it clear he wants to stay. Lewandowski, too, is not considering an exit and Gundogan only arrived last summer.

So, it remains to be seen how Barça go ahead with their plans in the summer. But for now, it appears that apart from the four ‘non-transferables’ offers might be heard for the rest.
