Barcelona’s hopes of signing top target Nico Williams appear to be dwindling with each passing day, with reports in Spain predicting the player to continue at Athletic Club for at least another season.

Barcelona, though, have not yet given up hope and are still waiting for Nico to make the final call. That said, the club are preparing itself for every possible outcome.

Joao Felix move not ruled out

As a matter of fact, Barcelona have not lost sight of their former player Joao Felix either.

According to Adrian Sanchez, the Catalans have not ruled out a move for the Atletico Madrid forward, in the event Nico refuses to join the club this summer.

This is quite a significant development considering the fact that Barça had earlier targeted an extended loan deal for Felix.

But the club soon lost sight of the Portuguese international, especially after Nico’s tremendous performances in Euro 2024.

However, with the Nico deal looking ominous, Barça may once again revisit their interest in Felix, even though the forward was far from impressive during his time in Catalonia.

What about Dani Olmo?

It must be remembered that Barcelona still have Dani Olmo in their crosshairs, though the club have appeared unwilling to meet his hefty €60 million price tag.

In any case, Joao Felix has been identified as a potential last-resort option, considering the fact that Barcelona do require reinforcements in the attacking unit.

That means Barça are unlikely to lose sight of Olmo and may, in fact, strongly consider the prospect of bringing both him and Felix this summer, provided the Nico deal breaks down.

For now, the Blaugrana are on wait and watch mode, desperately hoping for Nico to approve a summer move to Catalonia.
