In a major update, FC Barcelona have finally managed to get a sponsor of the club to put on the table the €40 million that Libero did not pay in October for the 10% of Barça Studios that it acquired, reports Que T’hi Jugues (h/t SPORT).

Barcelona had been working on this operation for many months and this Tuesday afternoon, the agreement will be signed in the offices of the Catalan club.

On the cusp of returning to the 1:1 rule

As per the report, the amount of the deal will be paid immediately into the club’s coffers, which will bring Barça very close to returning to the 1:1 rule for the summer transfer window, as La Liga will release this important figure from the salary cap.

The Blaugrana will also receive the remaining €60 million owed by Libero by the end of the month although this amount is not in such a hurry.

The three sponsors behind this operation are Nike, Spotify and Aramark (the company in charge of catering at the future Spotify Camp Nou).

One of the three companies will sign the agreement today for the €40 million and the remaining €60 million will be shared between the remaining two sponsors.

The report further adds that the deal has indeed been completed, but will not be announced publicly until tomorrow Wednesday, when Barcelona return from the United States.

The Blaugrana are currently on their pre-season tour, which will end in 12 hours with the final friendly against AC Milan in Baltimore.

Who will Barcelona sign?

Once the situation is addressed, Barcelona will be able to speed up their pending transfer operations in the market.

At the moment, the priority is to close the deal for Dani Olmo, who is now the top target with Nico Williams likely to stay put at Athletic Club.

Barcelona sporting director, Deco, has travelled to Leipzig and will hold a definitive summit to sign Olmo. The Catalans hope that the third time is the charm after the German club rejected the first two offers for the UEFA Euro 2024 champion.
