With Barcelona currently in a good moment, it is the opportune time for the administration to pursue player renewals.

The project in Catalonia has never looked more appealing and the team are firing on all cylinders at the moment, recently having recorded wins over Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

As revealed earlier today, the Blaugrana are currently working hard to secure Pedri’s renewal and hope to extend the Canary Islander’s contract at the club for the foreseeable future.

As revealed in a recent update on SPORT, Barcelona will look towards the contracts of Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo immediately after and have them as priority operations. After all, both players’ current deals run out in 2026.

Araujo open to renewal

Araujo is still recovering from his muscular injury from Copa America and is in the final phase of his recovery. He is expected to be back in action after the next international break in what is a vital boost for the dressing room.

Araujo has been linked with Bayern Munich and the Premier League in recent transfer windows but it is now clear that all parties involved with to extend the player’s deal with Barcelona.

The club’s intention is to tie the player down to the club until 2030 and the player is open to the same as he has never spoken of considering an exit. Flick, moreover, is said to be a fan of the player’s profile.

De Jong’s situation unclear

Frenkie de Jong’s case is not as clear, especially after how the club attempted to push him out to Manchester United in 2022.

The Netherlands international will be a vital part of the team going forward, but it remains to be seen how negotiations over a new contract progress.

After all, the captain has not responded to the renewal proposals so far and the club fears he is running down his contract to leave on a free transfer.
