Barcelona are facing more than just financial woes these days, as a recent report from Mundo Deportivo sheds light on a new concern related to fake transfer news spread by anonymous sources on Instagram.

According to the report, Barcelona have uncovered several anonymous Instagram accounts that are fabricating transfer rumours, leading to major outrage within the club.

The Blaugrana have confirmed the existence of these accounts, which operate under harmless names. These accounts send misleading information about potential transfers to journalists, who then unknowingly publish these stories.

This has caused significant confusion within Barcelona’s sports department, as they find themselves having to explain these false reports to players’ representatives and agents.

Barcelona considering legal action

For instance, there were false claims that Hansi Flick favoured a move for Frimpong over Joao Cancelo, along with exaggerated contract offers supposedly made to clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle for players such as Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati.

Barcelona have assured those affected that these rumours are baseless, but they are now considering legal action.

They have gathered evidence linking the fake stories to specific Instagram accounts, which have been documenting their fabricated claims with names, details, and alleged transfer negotiations.

What are the rumours spread by these accounts?

Among the alleged fabricated stories were claims that Arsenal were keen on Jules Kounde, and even reports suggesting interest from Manchester City in Julian Alvarez.

The club is not only concerned about the damage these hoaxes cause to their reputation but also the confusion and disruption they create internally.

They are particularly troubled by the fact that reputable journalists have unwittingly amplified these false stories, misleading fans and stakeholders alike.

In response to this troubling trend, Barcelona are actively exploring legal avenues to address the issue. They hope to hold accountable those responsible for spreading false information and restore trust in the integrity of transfer news surrounding the club.
