The Spanish championship resumes this weekend. The leader, FC Barcelona hosts Sevilla FC on its lawn as part of the 10th day of La Liga.
For this part, Hansi Flick recorded several important returns in his group. Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo and Wojciech Szczęsny are fit for the confrontation against the Sevillian club. The Polish goalkeeper will make his first appearance in the Catalan group.
Recruited to compensate for the absence of Marc-André Ter Stegen, Wojciech Szczęsny is not yet sure of being the number 1 goalkeeper, despite his status and experience. The competition is likely to be fierce between the two men.
Hansi Flick would have decided on the subject for the match against Sevilla. “ I’m happy that he (Szczęsny) says he is ready to play, but there is no reason to change goalkeepers. Iñaki Peña will play against Sevilla,” he declared in a pre-match press conference in front of journalists.
Szczęsny holder in C1?
Wojciech Szczęsny should therefore not be in the Barça cage this Sunday evening against Sevilla FC in La Liga. It is Inaki Pena who will once again keep the Catalans’ cage. However, it is not impossible that the German coach rotates between the two goalkeepers.
Szczęsny could therefore appear in the starting 11 in the Champions League this Wednesday against Bayern Munich. To be continued…
