Pau Cubarsi has become the talk of the town in Barcelona following his brilliant performances in La Liga in recent weeks.

The young Spaniard was a standout player in Barça’s recent win over RCD Mallorca as he helped the club retain a valuable clean sheet.

Needless to say, Cubarsi’s brilliance displays at the back has caught the attention of several European giants, who are desperate to get their hands on the Spanish defensive prodigy.

But as reported by Mundo Deportivo, it appears Barcelona have a clear-cut plan to keep hold of Cubarsi in the years to come.

Barcelona’s plan to retain Cubarsi

MD suggests that Barcelona will follow the same plan they employed with Lamine Yamal when it comes to keeping hold of Cubarsi.

That means the Catalans are expected to hand Cubarsi a grand contract when he turns 18. The new deal will run until 2030 and will include a release clause worth €1 billion.

Barcelona have made similar bets on other young players as well, including Gavi, Pedri and Alejandro Balde. Even Ansu Fati has the same contract and if everything goes as per the plan, both Yamal and Cubarsi will become the latest ones to join the list.

Barcelona are particularly keen on closing a deal for Cubarsi as soon as possible, knowing the player’s value is increasing with each passing game. The 17-year-old’s potential inclusion in the Spanish squad has not been ruled out either.

Cubarsi keen on a prolonged stay at Barcelona

It must be noted that for any minor player, the release clause usually stands at around €6 million. But for Cubarsi, the value is believed to be somewhere up to €15 million.

In fact, the starting price for the 17-year-old defensive prodigy is around €10 million. But it is a value many European giants will be willing to play.

Fortunately for Barcelona, the player himself has decided to put all the other proposals on hold and is keen on continuing at Barcelona.

This could serve as a massive boost for the Catalans and help the club secure the long-term future of the Spaniard, as he continues to make an impression in European football.
