Barcelona will take on Sevilla in La Liga this weekend and all eyes will be on the impending return of midfield gem Gavi.

After over 11 months out of action, the 20-year-old La Masia jewel will finally mark his return to the squad list, although it is still unclear if he will receive any minutes at Montjuic on Sunday or not.

Either way, Gavi’s return will be a huge boost for Hansi Flick and Barça, considering what he offers on and off the pitch.

Barcelona will immediately act to renew Gavi

As such, Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona are already prepared to get a new contract finalised for Gavi soon after he makes his return from injury.

The Blaugrana are on a spree to close down the contract extensions of several key players whose current deals run out in 2026. On the list are Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Lamine Yamal, and Gavi.

Barça president Joan Laporta confirmed in his interview on Thursday that things are already progressing as far as renewals for Araujo, Pedri, and De Jong are concerned, while also revealing that the club intend to offer Gavi a new deal as well.

“Barça is a fair club, always has been. We have the renewal of Araujo, De Jong and Pedri. Gavi will get it soon,” said the Barcelona president.

Building on that, Romano reports that the Catalan giants do indeed have the preparations in place to initiate the process for the 20-year-old midfield sensation’s renewal.

Given that the player has his heart set on continuing at Barcelona and achieving success at the club, talks over a new deal are likely to progress smoothly.

One of the best talents to have come through La Masia in recent times, Gavi’s return and subsequent renewal will be a huge boost for Barcelona, who see the youngster as a future club captain.
