Barcelona are currently in a renewal spree, determined to secure the future of their young stars and build a strong foundation for the club.

President Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco are focused on key players who represent the essence of a young, dynamic Barcelona under Hansi Flick.

To this tune, Barcelona have already renewed the contracts of players such as Fermin Lopez, Marc Bernal and Alejandro Balde.

The club’s next goal is to renew the contracts of bigger players, who represent more value and can become the face of the club in the years to come.

Barcelona identify ‘four faces’

As revealed by La Vanguardia, Laporta and Deco have identified Pedri, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, and Pau Cubarsi as the cornerstones of Barcelona’s future.

Pedri, who has been crucial to Barça’s midfield, is on track to extend his stay until 2030, having established himself as a key component to Hansi Flick’s setup.

Talks with his agent, Hector Peris, are in advanced stages, although economic constraints still loom large. Barcelona must be cautious with wage updates, given the club’s efforts to reduce their sports wage bill from €676 million to €505 million.

Pedri’s passion for winning with Barça drives his commitment, but a final decision awaits confirmation of the club’s financial capacity.

Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi, both 17, have seen meteoric rises, and the club know their contracts must reflect their growing importance.

Yamal’s deal, brokered with Jorge Mendes, is structured to extend until 2030 once he comes of age. Cubarsi, under contract until 2027 with a €500 million release clause, continues to be a highly coveted talent.

As for Gavi, the midfielder has faced a challenging year – riddled with injuries. During this period, the youngster prioritised his recovery more than anything else.

But with Gavi back in full fitness and geared up for more game-time post the international break, Barcelona are ready to restart talks about his future.

Gavi remains eager to contribute to Barcelona’s success, with the club confident of his loyalty to the club. Barcelona are reportedly keen on sealing the renewal of both Gavi and Pedri by the end of the year.
