Ahead of Barcelona’s all-important UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain, club president Joan Laporta has assured that the entire team is motivated.
Laporta added no one is feeling the pressure at the moment. Rather, everyone is looking forward to the game in Paris with immense joy.
“The truth is that we are in a sweet moment, a good moment. Today I was with the players, they are super motivated,” said the club president as relayed by SPORT.
“There is joy in the locker room and a lot of desire to play the game in Paris. Let’s see how it goes.”
Laporta added that upon meeting with the players recently, he assured them that given the talent and quality of the roster, they would stand a chance to win.
“I told them that with the enthusiasm they have, with their quality and talent, anything is possible. We have to fight to win and they’re going to do it, they’re going to do it at their best,” he added.
Barcelona have enough time to prepare
It is to be noted that Barcelona are scheduled to make a trip to the French capital for the first-leg tie on Wednesday, April 10.
With no league match scheduled this week because of the Copa del Rey final, Barcelona have a solid ten days to gear up for the Champions League contest.
In contrast, PSG have clinched a victory in the French Cup semi-final against Rennes yesterday and are set to play Clermont at home this weekend. These differing schedules set the stage for a crucial match.
Interestingly enough, this fixture marks the first time Barcelona have made it to the Champions League quarter-final during Laporta’s current term as president.
As such, excitement is noticeable among the players, staff, and even the president himself at the prospect of potentially advancing to the semi-finals, where they could meet the winner of the Atletico Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund match.
