A Joao Felix stunner at Nuevo Mirandilla gave Barcelona all three points against a spirited Cadiz on Saturday night. What was clear from the players’ interviews after the game, however, was that the focus was on the game midweek.

In just over 24 hours, Barcelona play host to Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal at Montjuic.

The Catalans dished out one of their best showings under Xavi to down PSG by a 3-2 scoreline in Paris. They head into the decisive game with an advantage, but one that is ever-so-small.

Institutional support

SPORT relays insights from the team’s final training session before Tuesday’s clash which happened this morning.

As revealed by the outlet, Barcelona president Joan Laporta was present to witness the team train and walked all the way across the training field to greet Xavi and some of the players.

Laporta wanted to show his support to the team ahead of what is nothing short of a finale. Vice President Rafa Yuste was also present on the ground.

With a place in the semifinal on the line, it will be crucial for Barcelona to hold their nerve and see off a resilient PSG for ninety more minutes.

The president’s support, needless to say, will be the dressing room a whole lot of good before the game.

A pressure cooker atmosphere

As relayed earlier today, Barcelona fans are on a mission to make the environment on the night very hostile for PSG.

The Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys is nearly sold out, and it is clear that the environment in the stadium tomorrow will be no less than that of a pressure cooker for the opposition.

With the home crowd behind their back and a one-goal cushion to ride on, Barcelona have everything to prove that they are no longer the fragile team in Europe that they have been in recent years.
