Barcelona are under severe pressure ahead of next season as they try to prepare their squad for what could be another gruelling season on the back of Real Madrid’s Champions League and La Liga-winning double campaign.

Furthermore, Barça seem to be in no position to compete against their arch-rivals. They are struggling financially and cannot go toe-for-toe against Europe’s elite for top transfer targets.

If that was not enough, Barça fans are also unhappy with how the club is run from a political standpoint, with too much bias given to certain players represented by friends of the board members.

The sporting management of the club, too, including the latest disrespectful departure of Xavi has not gone down well with fans either, with a section of supporters calling for Joan Laporta’s resignation recently.

The president seems to be affected by these criticisms, as well.

Laporta unhappy

According to a report published by SPORT, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is very unhappy with the criticism and the ‘oppositions’ coming from the fans for various aspects of the club.

The Barça chief is ready to listen to, and accept criticism, but believes that it has been disproportionate and personally motivated on multiple occasions.

In fact, the Spanish politician thinks that there are some seeking to harm him, specifically.

Laporta is also disappointed with this situation because he is of the opinion that his administration has done a solid job of maintaining the club’s economic stability during a very vulnerable time.

With the club working on two very major operations in the form of the new Nike manufacturing deal and the Barça Studios deal, Laporta thinks too much noise at this time is not good for the club.

Poor decisions from Barcelona

While there is certainly criticism that has gone well and beyond rationale, Joan Laporta would be massively incorrect to believe that it is undeserved.

Now would be a good time to remember that he used Lionel Messi’s name as bait to win the elections without doing his due research, and eventually could not retain his services.

On top of that, the treatment given to two more Barcelona legends, Ronald Koeman and Xavi, cannot be forgotten.

Not to mention, the club’s massive sporting underachievement while Real Madrid have gone on to conquer Europe and Spain once again.
