Barcelona are approaching the coming summer with quite a few objectives in mind.

Apart from finding a new manager, Barcelona are on the hunt for a new midfielder as the club continue their search to find an ideal replacement for Sergio Busquets.

In recent weeks, Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move for Amadou Onana – the Everton starlet who has established himself as a top talent in the Premier League.

However, a recent report from SportBILD (h/t SPORT) has offered a big blow to Barcelona’s hopes of signing Amadou Onana this summer.

As per the report, Everton are willing to sell Onana in the coming summer. But they are looking for a fair price for the midfielder.

In fact, the Toffees are not expected to negotiate for anything less than €60 million, effectively making him an unrealistic target for Barcelona this summer.

Under the club’s ongoing economic woes, the Blaugrana are not in a position to pay such a fortune for a single individual.

Barcelona’s budget: €45 million

Even with the current conditions, Barcelona sporting director Deco was willing to pay €45 million for the services of Onana.

But with Everton not willing to settle for anything less than €60 million, Barça are effectively out in the chase unless the club can offload several unwanted stars in the coming summer.

In any case, the Catalans are likely to shift their attention to other, more cost-effective alternatives in the market.

Matts Wieffer, for one, has emerged as an appealing option for the Blaugrana, although the club could face stiff competition from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
