Nico Williams has already expressed his desire to join Barcelona, but he is adamant about the club not making any last-minute decision.

According to a recent report from SPORT, Nico has been aware for weeks that Barcelona see him as their preferred choice. However, he understands that the club needs time to formalise a proper offer, one that meets all legal requirements.

At present, despite this waiting period, Nico has remained focused on his performance in the Euros, attempting to block out distractions from transfer rumours—a task he admits has proven challenging in recent interviews.

Barcelona need to make a decision… Quickly!

As the Euros draw to a close, possibly as soon as today for Spain, Nico looks forward to a well-deserved break extending until late July. This timeframe coincides with Barcelona’s need to resolve their Financial Fair Play situation.

While there is no specific deadline set in stone, Nico is keen to avoid any last-minute uncertainties, as his preference is clear: if negotiations extend beyond early August without substantial progress and assurances, his move to Barcelona could face serious complications.

Moreover, the winger remains considerate of his current team, Athletic Club as well. Should he depart, Athletic would likely need to delve into the transfer market to find a replacement winger.

Since Nico holds a deep respect for his club, he would not want to leave them in a tight spot, lacking adequate time to secure a suitable replacement.

Barcelona are working on a fair deal

According to the outlet, Nico’s representatives are well-informed about Barcelona’s financial capabilities and their strategic plan to navigate the fair play regulations.

As far as Barcelona are concerned, they have already set certain benchmarks and must adhere to them promptly to ensure they don’t jeopardise their position in what could potentially be a leading race for Nico’s signature.

Time is of utmost importance for Barcelona, and any delay could complicate matters significantly.

In essence, while Nico eagerly anticipates a move to Barcelona, he insists on an early clarity in the process. He respects both clubs involved and hopes for a smooth transition that benefits everyone involved.
