The CIES Football Observatory frequently publishes a list of the most valuable footballers in the world.

The value is determined by several factors, including age and performance. On its 459th weekly issue, CIES has published a list of top U-23 footballers with the highest valuation increase over the past six months.

Lamine Yamal: Football’s most valuable teenager

Quite unsurprisingly, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal has crushed the competition – seeing the most valuation increment than any other young player over the past six months.

The forward, despite being only 16, has a staggering valuation of €134 million. This accounts for almost a 12 times increase, as his earlier valuation was €12 million.

In fact, Yamal is the world’s most valuable teenager by quite some margin. Benfica’s Joao Neves is second in terms of valuation increase, with a surge of €72 million. His final valuation stands at €105 million.

Girona’s Saveiro Moreira and Manchester City’s Cole Palmer are third and fourth respectively, with a valuation increase of €70 million each.

Yamal’s staggering valuation comes on the back of an excellent season that has seen the youngster become one of Barcelona’s main cogs in the attacking department.

The youngster has racked up six goals and seven assists in all competitions. His performances have played a key role in Barcelona’s resurgence during the second half of the campaign.

Yamal’s €134 million valuation easily makes him the most valued teenager in the footballing world. Unfortunately, other Barcelona teenagers such as Pau Cubarsi and Hector Fort are not mentioned on the list.

Nevertheless, Yamal’s meteoric rise once again underscores the Spaniard’s potential to become not only a star for Barcelona but for the footballing world in general.
