Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal has said that he wants Lionel Messi to win the Copa America and Spain to lift the Euro 2024 title so that the two players can play each other in the Finalissima.

Yamal, who is celebrating his 17th birthday today, has been one of the breakout stars at the European Championship. Following his phenomenal strike against France, the young forward has taken his tally to one goal and three assists in six matches.

Riding on the back of his scintillating performances, Spain have gone on to qualify for the final where they will face off against England.

Meanwhile, Argentina are set to face Colombia in the Copa America final and if Messi’s team win, Argentina and Spain will qualify for the 2025 Finalissima, which happens to be the dream of Yamal.

“I hope Messi wins the Copa America and I win EURO 2024 so I can play against him in the Finalissima,” said the Barcelona youngster as quoted by RAC1.

Yamal has often been compared to Barcelona icon Messi and while the player hasn’t liked it much, the reality is, he will have to make peace with it. Both players are left-footed, love to dribble, take on defenders and most importantly, cut inside.

As the Euro final approaches, all eyes are fixed on his remarkable performance which has captured the attention of the world.

While he was already under the spotlight during his time at Barça, this international tournament has thrust him into the global spotlight at just 16, now 17 years old.

The potential of this young footballer is staggering; such an explosive rise to fame at such a tender age is unprecedented. Yet, it’s his naturalness and maturity in handling success that truly sets him apart.

Now with the Euro final looming, Yamal gears up for a season where he will shine as one of Barça’s star players, already making his mark on the right flank. Above all, a victory for Spain and Argentina would fulfil one of his lifelong dreams.
