Having finalised the departures of Ilkay Gundogan and Vitor Roque over the past 24 hours or so, FC Barcelona have now reached an agreement to offload another player – Mika Faye.

Indeed, according to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Rennes have agreed terms for the Senegalese international to join the Ligue 1 club.

€12 million fees, buyback option included

Despite impressing in his debut season with Barcelona Atletic, Faye was unable to win over first-team manager Hansi Flick during pre-season.

And with the Catalans needing some departures, it became clear that the 20-year-old youngster would be on his way out.

There were a number of other clubs interested in signing the centre-back, but he has opted to move to Rennes, who made an official bid for him last week and have now reached an agreement.

As per Romano, the French club will be shelling out a transfer fee of €12 million to sign Faye from Barcelona.

The youngster will travel to France to complete his medicals and other formalities tomorrow, i.e., Friday.

A key detail in the operation is that Barcelona have been successful in inserting a buyback option for Faye – something that the club had been pushing for as they believe in his potential.

As such, the Catalans can re-sign the defender in the future for a fee of over €35 million.

In addition, Barcelona have also secured a 25% future sell-on clause for Faye, who joined the club only last summer for a nominal fee of €1.5 million.
