After the end of yet another international break, Barcelona are set to resume their campaign on Sunday as they take on Sevilla at Montjuic.
However, one would expect Barcelona to focus more on next week’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich, with the club seeking retribution for the infamous ‘8-2’.
Barcelona have been recently blessed with the return of a few of their star players from injury, with the key duo of Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez set to return against Sevilla.
Key Bayern star picks up injury
In yet another boost for Barcelona, it appears Bayern Munich might just miss out on the services of key player Aleksandar Pavlovic, heading into the Barça game next week.
That is because the young midfield prodigy has picked up a fresh injury during the Bundesliga encounter against VfB Stuttgart.
Pavlovic was taken off just six minutes into the clash after a bad fall. It appears the youngster has taken up a fresh knock on his shoulders.
After he was taken off, the player was taken right back into the dressing room, where he was accompanied by team doctor Peter Ueblacker, reports Kerry Hau.
A big blow for Bayern
This is not a good sign for Bayern Munich, as Pavlovic’s absence could serve as a big blow for the club, especially against an in-form team like Barcelona.
Even if the youngster’s knock is not as serious, the player is more than likely to miss the Barça game, as he cannot recover full fitness in such a short span of time.
With Pavlovic gone, Bayern will lose a key operator in the middle of the park. One would expect new signing Joao Palhinha to take charge in midfield, in the absence of Pavlovic.
However, the former Fulham starlet has had a rather slow start to his career at Bayern and might find it difficult to get up to speed. The entire ordeal, therefore, could greatly benefit Barcelona heading into next week’s encounter.
That said, Barça, too, have problems of their own as star midfielder Frenkie de Jong has picked up a fresh muscle discomfort, just a few weeks after returning to the pitch.
