The international break did come at a rather bad time for Barcelona, who were in tantalising form over the last two months. They have not lost any games in ten now, since Xavi announced his resignation at the end of the season.
And while they will be hoping for no more injuries during this fortnight, Barça will also have the chance to properly recover the players who are already currently sidelined with injury.
This includes Frenkie de Jong, who rolled his ankle against Athletic Club and Ferran Torres, who has been out for two months now.
According to a report from MARCA, Torres has trained well in recent days. He has participated in all group training drills, and barring any surprises, should be ready to participate against Las Palmas on Saturday.
Boost ahead of PSG game
Ferran Torres is especially a welcome return for Barcelona given the inconsistency they have been facing on the left-wing this season. The Spaniard is still the second-top scorer of the team with ten goals across La Liga, Champions League, and the Copa del Rey.
He could play some minutes against Las Palmas this weekend, and could then be in contention to play the first-leg against PSG next week.
With Achraf Hakimi starting as the right-back, Xavi would want someone who could run in behind him. Felix has not always proven to be that player, but Raphinha and Torres have, with varying consistency.
What about de Jong and Pedri?
Barcelona are also without the services of Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, both of whom picked up injuries vs Athletic Club.
While the former is in contention to recover and start vs PSG, the latter could well be out for the season. Barcelona will not rush him one bit, and depending on how the season goes, could ask him to sit out all remaining games.
