Barcelona have turned down the opportunity to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Garnacho has been a regular part of United’s side since breaking into the first team in late 2022 and scored ten goals in all competitions last season.
However, the Argentine has not started any of United’s last four games under new boss Ruben Amorim and was left out of the matchday squad entirely when the Red Devils beat Manchester City last weekend.
Having scored just once since the Portuguese coach’s arrival, Garnacho is one of many whose future is up in the air ahead of the January transfer window.
Marcus Rashford could be set for an exit having missed out of United’s squad for a third successive game, while the club will also entertain offers for Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen.
And according to the Spanish outlet El Nacional, Garnacho’s representatives have begun scouring out potential destinations should the winger be pushed towards the exit in the coming windows.
However, the report states that Barcelona – one potential suitor – have turned down the opportunity to bring the 20-year-old to La Liga.
The Spanish giants have started the season well but have fallen off top spot after consecutive defeats to Leganes and Atletico Madrid.
But while Hansi Flick is considering beefing up his squad in January, the German is not keen on Garnacho, believing his ability and mindset are not right for the Catalonian club.
While United may have trouble moving on players, the club are closing in on their first signing of the Amorim era, with a deal agreed for Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon.
The 17-year-old Cerro Porteno defender has signed all documents to join United in July 2025 in a deal worth an initial $4 million (£3m), plus another possible $4m (£3m) in add-ons.
The Red Devils are also considering a January loan move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani who has been made available for transfer.
The French international has struggled since his move to Ligue 1, scoring just 11 goals in 54 appearances and was most recently left out of the Parisien club’s matchday squad for their Ligue 1 fixture with Monaco.
