Hector Fort is one of many youth players who have been able to make a breakthrough in the Barcelona first-team this season.

A right-back by trade, Fort has showcased exceptional talent during the second half of the campaign. His ability to move forward, coupled with his versatility has made him a trusted option for Xavi, even as a left-back at times.

Barcelona reject €35 million offer for Fort

Fort’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with big European clubs taking note of his talent and potential.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are already facing a battle to keep hold of the youngster and have had to reject a €35 million proposal for the player.

Barcelona are not considering offloading Hector Fort anytime soon and see him as a vital part of the club’s project in the years to come.

Fort’s current contract at Camp Nou expires in 2025, but Barcelona are already working on a deal to extend his contract. As soon as the player turns 18, Fort will be able to sign a contract longer than three years.

A new deal at Barça would likely see Fort’s release clause increased to €1 billion, as is the case with other La Masia products such as Gavi, Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati, among others.

Barcelona’s strategy with youth prospects

As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are not planning to make money with any of their star talents. As such, they will not even consider any offers for players such as Pau Cubarsi, Fort and Lamine Yamal.

The Catalans have already rejected a whopping €200 million offer for Yamal. They are likely to follow the same pattern for all their other talented youngsters.

This comes even on the backdrop of an economic downturn that has crippled Barcelona’s powers in the transfer market.
