A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has revealed that Gerard Martin, Barcelona’s 22-year-old left-back, has received offers from top teams in Spain, Germany, and Italy.

However, Barcelona have firmly decided that he will not be leaving the club.

The outlet mentions that the club has immense confidence in Martin, who is currently with the first team on their tour of the United States.

They view him as a reliable backup for Alejandro Balde in many of the first team’s matches. His outstanding performance against Manchester City has further convinced the coaches that he deserves a spot on the first team beyond their commitments in the pre-season.

Martin has impressed the coaching staff

The young defender has impressed the coaching staff with his physical strength, defensive skills, and his development in offensive play. His ability to contribute to the game on both ends of the pitch makes him a valuable asset.

Furthermore, when Hansi Flick joined the club, he immediately requested reports and recordings of youth football matches. Martin’s performance stood out, capturing the manager’s attention.

It must be noted that Martin joined Barça Atletic in July 2023, signing a contract that runs until June 2025. Despite receiving significant offers from top teams this summer, he has chosen to remain focused on his career at Barcelona.

The club, too, has shown no interest in entertaining these offers, as they see Martin as a key player for the first team. Even though his current contract is set to expire next year, the club is confident about renewing his contract, given his impressive performances.

Barcelona’s faith in Martin is evident. They believe he has the potential to become a crucial player for the first team and his performance against City highlighted his defensive capabilities and his ability to support the attack, proving that he is ready for the challenges at the highest level of football.
