Barcelona have re-established itself as the holy grail for talented young footballers across the globe and it has been reflected in the rise to superstardom of multiple young players over the past couple of years.

The likes of Gavi, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and Alejandro Balde have all enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence lately and there are many more who could follow.

However, as reported by SPORT, Barça could lose out on a star talent, who is even regarded as the ‘African Pearl’.

Uncertainty over Barcelona’s pursuit of David Oduro

The player in question is David Oduro, a left-back who currently plies his trade for Ghanaian outfit Accra Lions.

Oduro was on trial in Barcelona earlier this year and made a lasting impression on coaches. The club wanted him to extend his stay, but it was not possible due to bureaucratic reasons.

It was reported earlier that Barcelona are keen on the services of Oduro. The Catalans are monitoring his situation closely, with the player more than likely to join a European club in the coming summer.

Can Barça sign Oduro?

However, Barcelona’s quest to sign David Oduro has been complicated by various factors, including interest from other top European clubs.

RSC Anderlecht, for one, are among the clubs keen on acquiring Oduro’s services in the coming summer.

Both Accra Lions and Oduro’s entourage continue to meet with several clubs across Europe. Apart from Anderlecht, Leverkusen are also interested in his services.

Oduro, for his part, prioritises a move to Barcelona, but he wants to close out his future as soon as possible. Barcelona, therefore, must move swiftly if they are to avoid missing out on this great African talent.
