Barcelona are reportedly the latest club showing an interest in the potential transfer of Lille striker Jonathan David, who is also on Arsenal’s radar at the moment.
David has impressed as a prolific scorer during his time in Ligue 1, and it makes sense that there’s growing talk of him possibly moving on to bigger and better things in the near future as he’s coming towards the end of his contract with Lille.
According to a report from Todo Fichajes, Barca are looking at the Canada international as an ideal low-cost option to provide them with cover for veteran front-man Robert Lewandowski.
This follows on from our report earlier today about Arsenal asking about David, but facing complications in signing him due to his high wage demands and long list of other suitors.
Omar Marmoush to Arsenal could be one to watch instead, with the Gunners clearly in need of more depth up front due to Gabriel Jesus’ poor form for much of the last year or more.

The 24-year-old might not be the very best centre-forward in world football, but he’s surely good enough to come in and provide an alternative to the ageing Lewandowski, who surely can’t keep playing 90 minutes week in, week out for too much longer.

The Poland international is still going strong at the age of 36, but David could be ideal cover and perhaps end up being a decent long-term replacement up front.
David has a total of 92 goals in 194 games for Lille, and he’s scored 26 goals in all competitions in the last two seasons in a row.
