Just over ten days remain before the summer transfer window slams shut and Barcelona have a whole lot of work left to do.

So far, only two players have been signed in the form of Pau Victor and Dani Olmo, with the latter still yet to be registered in La Liga.

As has been well-established by now, a left-winger is the next priority for Barcelona while they are also not ruling out a move for a right-back – with Joao Cancelo on the agenda.

Earlier today, reports emerged claiming that Barça director Deco was ‘obsessed’ with signing a new pivot midfielder, even though Hansi Flick has already gone on record stating that he does not need a new signing in the position.

No new pivot

However, now, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona will indeed not sign a new pivot midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

Barça offloaded Oriol Romeu this summer and will now part ways with Ilkay Gundogan imminently as well.

Despite that, and the fact that the club did not replace Sergio Busquets last summer with a top signing, the Catalan giants do not intend to sign a new pivot midfielder this summer.

The main reason behind the decision is the plethora of midfield options that Barcelona already have, coupled with the emergence of Marc Bernal and Marc Casado.

Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, and Pedri will compete for the No. 10 position while Bernal, Casado, Frenkie de Jong, and Gavi will be options for the double pivot once they are back from injury.

As such, Barcelona do not see the need to sign a new pivot and will instead focus all their efforts towards bringing in a left-winger and if possible, a right-back.
