According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona have decided to rule out the option to sign Ivan Perisic.

With the possibility of acquiring Nico Williams from Athletic Club now seeming unlikely, Barcelona has found itself in a tight spot, desperately searching for another option to fill the gap in their attacking lineup.

In the past few hours, Perisic has surfaced as a potential candidate. The Croatian winger, who is currently a free agent after parting ways with Hajduk Split, was briefly considered as a possible addition to Barcelona’s squad.

The idea of Perisic reuniting with Hansi Flick at Barcelona unexpectedly gained traction, especially considering the player’s strained relationship with his former coach, Gennaro Gattuso.

There was never a call from Flick

Rumours recently circulated about a direct phone call from Flick to Perisic, inquiring about his current situation and interest in joining Barcelona. The Croatian, who would have been eager to don the Blaugrana colours, was seen as a cost-effective solution for the club.

However, it has now become clear that the former Inter and Tottenham star will not be joining Barcelona. The club has officially ruled out the possibility of signing the 35-year-old under Flick’s management.

Despite his experience and past achievements, Barcelona’s leadership does not view Perisic as a viable option for their current squad.

For now, Barcelona’s search for a suitable left-winger continues. The team is in need of a player who can effectively operate down the flank, a key requirement set by Flick.

Among the names being considered are Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and Liverpool’s Luis Díaz, both of whom are being discussed as alternatives should the Nico deal fall through.

With just two weeks remaining in the transfer window, Barcelona are under pressure to find a solution that will bolster their attacking options.

Financial constraints continue to pose significant challenges, making it difficult for the club to finalise a deal that Flick is eager to secure in this transfer market.

Despite the urgency, it is now evident that Ivan Perisic will not be the answer to Barcelona’s search for a new winger. The club must now focus on other targets as they look to strengthen their squad before the window closes.
