After missing the first two matches of the season due to registration issues, Dani Olmo has started his career at FC Barcelona in red-hot form, scoring two goals in two matches.

Indeed, the 26-year-old scored the match-winning goal against Rayo Vallecano on his debut and followed it up with another strike in the 7-0 hammering of Real Valladolid.

However, Barcelona now find themselves sweating over the fitness of their in-form attacking midfielder following an injury scare while on national team duty.

Tests underway

Indeed, earlier today, Spain manager Luis de La Fuente confirmed that Olmo had sustained a heavy knock during the game against Serbia earlier this week, as a result of which he did not train today.

The 26-year-old is now undergoing tests in Geneva to rule out any damage to the joint in his right knee ahead of Spain’s clash against Switzerland tomorrow, reports Ferran Martinez.

The knock Olmo received on his right knee occurred in the 67th minute in a clash against a Serbian defender, for which the Barcelona summer signing was shown a yellow card.

Following that, the 26-year-old carried on playing for 15 more minutes before De La Fuente finally took him off in the 82nd minute.

As things stand, Olmo’s availability against Switzerland is in doubt but a more concrete picture of his situation should emerge once the tests are carried out.

Barcelona, who have already suffered several injuries in recent weeks, will have their fingers crossed hoping that the issue with their €55 million new signing is nothing major.
