After managing to convince Xavi Hernandez to stay at Camp Nou beyond the end of the season, the Barcelona board have started preparation for the season ahead.

The club are hard at work trying to find ideal players who can add quality to the team but can also be light on the pocket.

To that end, a recent report from Culemania has revealed the ideal squad envisioned by Xavi and sporting director Deco, for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.

Barcelona’s ideal 2024/25 squad

The report claims Barcelona’s objective is to add more competition within the squad. As such, the plan is have to 24 players in the team next season, with many young players being a part of the squad.

It has been already reported that Xavi plans to promote young centre-back Mika Faye to the senior side this summer.

As far as the ideal eleven is concerned, Barcelona will not make any changes to the goalkeeping department. Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inaki Pena will continue to serve as goalkeeping options for coach Xavi.

There will be changes in the rest of the defence, though. Marcos Alonso is already leaving whereas Inigo Martinez will be allowed to leave if Barcelona receive a good offer.

Ronald Araujo, too, has been linked with an exit but Barcelona will try everything they can to keep hold of the Uruguayan international. However, the club may consider a sale if interested parties such as Bayern Munich offer anything between €80-100 million.

To summarise, Barcelona’s desired defensive line next season could include Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Alejandro Balde, Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort and Julian Araujo, with Mika Faye likely to be promoted.

Changes in midfield and attack

It has been reported numerous times that Barcelona’s priority is to sign a new defensive midfielder. While doing so, the club will not hesitate to find a new club for Oriol Romeu.

Barcelona, though, may also look to push the exit of Frenkie de Jong, knowing the Dutchman’s sale could go a long way in helping them sign their top targets in the market.

Speaking of which, Barça’s priority is to sign Joshua Kimmich, who has been identified as the ideal solution to the number six problem. Martin Zubimendi is another target for Xavi.

Another focus area for Barcelona this summer will be to sign a creative midfielder. Bernardo Silva could be available in the market, with the Portuguese international reportedly keen on joining the Catalans this summer.

Moving on to the attacking unit, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, Raphinha and Vitor Roque are all set to continue.

The Blaugrana also assumes the continuity of Joao Felix, provided they can reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Barcelona may call up multiple youngsters including Marc Guiu while the club might look to give a chance to Alex Valle on the back of his successful loan spell at Levante.

Finally, on the departure front, Barça have no plans for Ansu Fati, Sergino Dest, Clement Lenglet and Eric Garcia. All of these players will be allowed to leave, as the club look to get rid of unwanted stars.
