Barcelona players are no strangers when it comes to winning the prestigious Golden Boy Award from Tuttosport.

In recent years, the likes of Gavi and Pedri have won the prestigious award. Barcelona’s streak, though, was broken last year when Jude Bellingham trumped past Alejandro Balde.

However, Barcelona once again back into the mix this year, thanks to some strong contenders such as Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.

Yamal leads Golden Boy Index

As a matter of fact, Lamine Yamal appears to be the frontrunner in the latest Golden Boy Power Index released by Tuttosport.

The Barcelona youngster, who is gearing up for the upcoming European Championship, currently leads the table with a rating of 93.6.

This is marginally higher than second-placed Joao Neves (93.4), another young rising star hailing from SL Benfica. These two are followed by Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, with a rating of 90.8.

Lamine Yamal sitting atop the Golden Boy rankings does not come as a surprise after he enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough season with Barcelona while also carving out a space for himself in the Spanish national team.

Cubarsi also on the list

Lamine Yamal is not the only Barcelona youngster present in the Golden Boy Power Index. While the forward enjoys the top spot, his defensive teammate Pau Cubarsi holds the eighth position in the index.

Cubarsi has a rating of 82.9, ahead of Bayern Munich’s Aleksandar Pavlovic and Manchester City’s Rico Lewis.

Cubarsi, though, marginally trails Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, who has a rating of 83.8. These ratings, though, are bound to be updated as the summer progresses.

The upcoming Euro 2024, in particular, could prove to be a real opportunity for the two Barcelona youngsters to further up their tally and emerge as frontrunners for the 2024 Golden Boy Award.
