Vitor Roque’s arrival in the January transfer window came across as a great relief for Barcelona, considering their woes in the final third and difficulties finishing chances.

But Xavi and his coaching staff have opted to drip-feed Roque minutes instead of immediately placing him in the hot seat.

This is because of his inexperience in Europe’s top five leagues, so he can seamlessly adapt to the club.

Not to mention, Roque’s competitor, Robert Lewandowski, has been firing on all cylinders ever since he began breathing down his neck for a place in the XI.

Contract details unveiled

Now, agent Andre Cury has recently shed light on the transfer details, including financial aspects of Roque’s contract to RAC1 (h/t Mundo Deportivo)

Barcelona signed Roque from Athletico Paranaense last summer itself, in a deal worth €61 million, including add-ons. And Cury has now divulged the payment structure in place between the two clubs.

Cury claims that Barcelona have agreed to pay €5 million every six months until a fixed amount of €31 million is reached.

As of right now, €10 million has been paid; the most recent amount, €5 million, was settled in February.

“Barça pay €5 million every six months until reaching €31 million in fixed terms,” Curry argued.

He made it clear that Roque would have to start for Barcelona regularly in order to qualify for all of the performance-related bonuses. “To meet all the variables, Vitor should be a starter,” he stated.

“€1 million for the Ballon d’Or and €2-3 million for being among the three best of FIFA. The rest is for being a starter in half of the games,” he explained.

In addition to being advantageous to the player, playing the 19-year-old forward frequently would raise his market value.

“If he is a starter at Barça at the age of 20, his price would be 200 million, that’s for sure,” the agent remarked.
