Barcelona’s plan with 17-year-old rising German prospect – report

Barcelona have been handing opportunities to youngsters with great frequency this season, emphasizing their development, as the Catalans continue to value the team’s long-term ambitions.

Indeed, Barça have offered regular playtime to the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, Hector Fort, and Marc Guiu.

However, the talents on the first team are merely the tip of the iceberg, with various other prodigies existing in the youth ranks.

Barcelona Atletic’s Noah Darvich is one such, who may not be considered a ‘born and bred’ La Masia player, having arrived from SC Freiburg last season.

Even so, he was already well-known in Europe before joining and is gradually picking up steam under coach Rafa Marquez after a slow start.

Promotion up for grabs

Now, SPORT have come out to report that Darvich’s future at the club hinges significantly on whether Barca Atletic secures promotion or not.

Xavi has not given Noah Darvich any thought for first-team appearances just yet. The player has, nevertheless, received numerous calls to train with the senior squad. It is improbable that Darvich will stay in the Primera RFEF if the team is not promoted.

For Darvich, moving to the Second Division seems like an opportune moment. In the event his development continues as expected, he will also be able to train with the first team during the pre-season.

Although there are doubts about whether Xavi will continue as coach or be replaced, the key priorities are still to close out the present campaign strongly and continue Darvich’s development.

Darvich coming into his own

Rafa Marquez gave Darvich his first start of 2024 in Fuenlabrada. Following a good seventy minutes, the ascent continued, with improvements in his performances and chemistry with teammates visible.

And on March 16, he made his scoring debut with the reserve squad, since he had already scored in the Youth League against Mainz.

Against Teruel and Sestao, the German whizkid played the full two games in a row. During the recently concluded international break, he also scored his first goal for the German under-18 squad.
