With Barcelona turning over a new leaf since Xavi announced his resignation, there has been talk of Barça preferring his continuity, so much so that President Joan Laporta himself claimed he hopes that Xavi will stay put.

However, for the time being, there has been no official verdict regarding Xavi’s continuity, and Barcelona will be keeping a close eye on the shortlisted candidates who are expected to replace the 44-year-old coach.

Among the options to succeed Xavi is Hansi Flick. The former Bayern Munich manager’s enthusiasm for taking over the helm at Barcelona has been no secret.

Flick is doing his homework

Now, according to Catalunya Radio the German coach has conducted in-depth research on Barcelona.

He inquired about the workings of the club, the personnel, and even the best spots to visit in the city.

The 59-year-old treble winner is presently a free agent and is availing his time to get ahead of matters in case he is eventually appointed as the Barcelona boss.

Flick is renowned for his excellent man-management and hands-on approach to matters, which explain his desire to immerse himself fully in understanding Barcelona’s inner workings.

This thorough preparation exemplifies his commitment to stepping into the role seamlessly, should the opportunity arise.

Learning from the best

Reports previously revealed that Flick even visited Manchester to watch Man City train and share a conversation with Barcelona legend Pep Guardiola, with whom he discussed the culture at the club.

Moreover, apart from his encounter with Guardiola, Flick also had a conversation with Domenec Torrent, the assistant to Guardiola in Munich, Barcelona, and currently Manchester.

Flick and Dome shared their coaching experiences over a five-hour meal, which may be the most recent sign that Flick wants to join Barcelona.

Time will tell who takes over Xavi’s position if he does end up parting ways, but Flick is certainly poised to be one of the frontrunners.
