Barcelona’s pre-season tour in the United States has been going positively so far with the team winning both against Manchester City and Real Madrid in the first two games.

While the two games saw different versions of Hansi Flick’s team tested to the limit, however, a common feature on both nights was a prolonged suspension of play owing to weather conditions.

Torrential rains and thunderstorms have seen games delayed, postponed and even suspended mid-way and the situation does not appear to be improving as relayed by Mundo Deportivo.

Third friendly under risk

After defeating Real Madrid in New Jersey, Barcelona travel to Baltimore where they will take on AC Milan late on Tuesday night.

The Spanish outlet reveals that there is a strong possibility of thunderstorm near the M&T Bank Stadium on the night, thus placing the team’s third friendly under risk.

As it stands, the weather forecast places the chance of rain with lightning at 90%. It is thus safe to say that the game could be interrupted as has been the case in previous matches.

The safety protocol in the USA states that any outdoor activity must be suspended if there is a thunderstorm with lightning within a radius of eight miles. The chance of a normal, uninterrupted passage of play thus appears slim.

Gunning for the perfect start

While the weather conditions are beyond the control of Hansi Flick and his team, the Blaugrana will continue to work and prepare for the game scheduled unperturbed.

Having won their two opening games of the tour, they will look to complete their campaign in the US with a third win over the Italian giants.

Barcelona will return back to Spain later next week where the rest of the squad will join training ahead of the official start of the campaign.
